Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks know who will initially stand between them and playoff success: the Boston Celtics.

The Knicks learned their fate Monday night, when the NBA Eastern Conference teams locked into their playoff seeding. The Knicks, who clinched the sixth seed in the conference with a seven-game winning streak, will open the playoffs this weekend in Boston, the third seed.

The teams will offer a preview of sorts on Wednesday; however, both teams, with nothing tangible to gain from winning the game, are expected to rest their stars.

Boston has defeated the Knicks in three of the teams' match-up this season, but only once since the Knicks' blockbuster trade for Anthony.

The Knicks, in the playoffs for the first time in seven years, have a long history with their rivals to the north. Boston has a career playoff edge, 7-6, but the Knicks prevailed in their last meeting in 1990.

The Knicks enter the playoffs on a roll. Anthony, who hit yet another game-winning shot on Sunday against the Indiana Pacers, has averaged 31 points per game during the team's seven-game winning streak.
