PBA fines Uichico

 MANILA, Philppines — The PBA Commissioner’s has fined Barangay Ginebra coach Jong Uichico P30,000 yesterday for his negative remarks detrimental to the league during the first half of Game 2 of their semifinal showdown against the Smart-Gilas Pilipinas.


Uichico felt that the calls were one-sided in the first half and he made the comments during a halftime TV interview. He later issued an apology,

saying it was just his frustrations, after the Kings won, 110-103, to take a 2-0 lead in the semifinals series.


Aside from the P30,000 penalty, Uichico, who was summoned yesterday by PBA Commissioner Chito Salud, was also fined P2,000 for his two technical, one in a 97-96 victory Game 1 and another in Game 2.


Also fined by P10,000 each were Smart-Gilas naturalized player Marcus Douthit and Barangay Ginebra guard Mark Caguioa. The penalties on both players were assessed after the review of tape by Salud and the technical committee.
