MANILA---Talk ‘N Text goes for a second win that Barangay Ginebra hopes to duplicate against Smart Gilas Pilipinas in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinal playoffs today at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Texters are heavily favored to stretch their dominance of the Air21 Express to 12 straight games when they clash  at 6:30 p.m.

But it’s anybody’s game in the 4 p.m. opener between the Gin Kings and the national five after Barangay Ginebra barely took the first game of its own best-of-five series with Smart Gilas, 97-96, Friday.

The Texters led by as many as 21 points twice in a 97-90 victory also Friday, but Air21 coach Bong Ramos stressed that the series with TNT is not as lopsided as many predict it would be.

“We promise to bounce back,” Ramos, a heady guard in the amateur leagues in the 1980s, said. “Talk ‘N Text is beatable.

Marcus Douthit, the Nationals’ naturalized 6-foot-11 center, will continue to be Ginebra’s main problem, though coach Toroman Rajko believes that his side lost Game 1 because his guards didn’t play well.

JV Casio and Marcio Lassiter, after averaging close to 29 points combined in the elimination round, were held to just nine points Friday.

“We had problems in the guard position,” Toroman said, adding that his boys were rusty from a nine-day break after making it outright to the semifinals behind the Texters.
