TALK N Text is ecstatic after reaching its second finals appearance of the season, but the Tropang Texters are also aware that the biggest challenge of winning it all still lies ahead.

Coach Chot Reyes said they are looking at the finals from ground zero, since they still need to win four more games to clinch their second straight championship.

‘’We all understand our ultimate goal. We’re back in the finals, but it’s just a step closer and we’re still four wins away from getting it,’’ said Reyes.

‘’We obviously want to win back-to-back championships and it is possible. We’re trying as a team to keep the task at hand and take it one game at a time. We won’t exhale until the job is completely done.’’

Team skipper Jimmy Alapag also downplayed the Texters’ return trip to the finals, saying that the main dish is still there for the taking.

‘’It’s a great feeling to be back in the finals. It’s really a credit to the whole team. It’s the commitment of everybody. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a great feeling but we have four more wins to go,’’ said Alapag.

The winner of the heated semifinals tussle between Barangay Ginebra and Smart Gilas Pilipinas will be Talk ‘N Text’s dancing partner in the best-of-seven finals for the Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner’s Cup title. The Gin Kings currently lead the series against the nationals at 2-1 and the two squads were still slugging it out in Game 4 as of press time.

Reyes said whichever emerges as their finals opponent, it remains a tough climb towards the Promised Land.

‘’Whether it’s Ginebra or Smart-Gilas, it would be a hard-fought finals for sure. We have to be completely ready,” Reyes said.

The three-time league champions swept past Air21, 3-0, in their semifinals series to earn another crack at another title, bringing with them an astonishing 11-game winning going into the championship round after dropping their opening match against the nationals.
