Barangay Ginebra has acquired the services of Curtis Stinson of the Iowa Energy, the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the recently-concluded NBA Developmental League.

According to a team insider, the 6-foot-1 Stinson, who helped the Energy win the championship in the D-League against the Rio Gande Valley Vipers, is expected to arrive on Monday (May 23).

The Kings will resume practice session on Tuesday (May 24), before they start their campaign in the Governor’s Cup on June 3 against back-to-back champion Talk ’N Text Tropang Texters in Dubai.

“He’s the import, he signed up two weeks ago,” said Ginebra coach Jong Uichico.

Ginebra lost to TNT in six games in the Commissioner’s Cup, which ended last Sunday with the Texters beating the Kings in overtime (99- 96). The Uichico-mentored team fell behind 3-1 in the series.

After the game, Uichico mentioned Stinson’s name as one of two American players they are eyeing. Stinson is listed as 6-foot-2, 215- pound guard out of Iowa State. He started in 48 of the Energy’s regular season games averaging 19.3 points, 9.8 assists and 5.7 rebounds in 42.9 minutes.

In the playoffs, Stinson increased his numbers to at least 32 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds.
