BORACAY, Philippines – For the fourth year in a row now, the active PBA stars outgunned the old stars in the PBA All-Star Week Legends Shootout.

The trio of Ronald Tubid, Mark Macapagal and Jimmy Alapag humbled the triumvirate of Allan Caidic, Alvin Patrimonio and Ato Agustin, 43-31, in the special three-point shootout serving as appetizer to the centerpiece North-South game last night at the Boracay Eco-Village and Convention here.

Tubid, a former three-point shootout king, led all players with 18 points with back-to-back champ Macapagal adding 13 and Alapag chipping in 12.

With 12, Caidic topscored for the Legends who drew 10 from Patrimonio and nine from Agustin.

It was the fourth time in a row that the youngsters emerged victorious, thus, breaking the 3-3 tie in the event.

Caidic, Boy Cabahug, Al Solis and Rhoel Gomez won the 2006 inaugural contest in Cebu, Alvin Patrimonio, Ronnie Magsanoc and Frankie Lim triumphed the following year then Ricric Marata, Boyvits Victoria and Jojo Lastimosa topped the 2008 duel.

In this year’s shootout, the youngsters ripped the contest apart early with Alapag outgunning Patrimonio, 12-10, then Tubid overwhelming Agustin, 18-9.

After Caidic pumped in 12, all Macapagal needed was two points to win it for his team. He knocked in his second point on the second rack.

Earlier in the day, the Willie Miller-led Bulwaks team won the initial staging of the Creality Adventure Race.

Miller together with Francis Allera, Ronjay Buenafe, Powerade team manager Gerard Francisco and Alaska team manager Joaqui Trillo beat four other five-man teams in the Boracay sands fun event presented by Puma and L Timestudio.

League board chairman Rene Pardo and Ginebra alternate board representative led other PBA personalities who participated in the race organized by Cre8 Events Asia.

“It’s a blast. We all had fun,” said Powerade alternate governor Kenneth Duremdes, who’s also a participant.

“I enjoyed just watching the race,” said Caidic.

Meanwhile, the province of Ilocos Norte, this early, has expressed interest to host the 2012 All-Star Week.
