MANILA, Philippines — Shane Mosley said his crystal ball tells him he will knock Manny Pacquiao out in the first round on May 7 in Las Vegas.

“Yeah, I think I’m going to knock him out,” Mosley told boxingscene from his high-altitude training camp in Big Bear, California. “I don’t know what round it’s going to be in. But it will come in the first round that I can catch him squarely on the chin.”

Mosley has been camping out in the snow-capped mountains of Southern California since early March and the 39-year-old puncher is more than optimistic that he will shock the world when he puts on a scintillating performance before acapacity crowd of around 17,000 at the MGM Grand.

Mosley said Pacquiao has never faced somebody like him: Fast and furious and a heavy-hitter.

And because Pacquiao has a natural tendency to go toe-to-toe with his foes even though he has tweaked his style a bit through the years, he remains an aggressive guy who loves to slug at close range, making Mosley very much at home.

Pacquiao, noted Mosley, might even come up with a strategy to box from a distance but there will come a time during the fight that the Filipino will revert to his old and familiar ways.

“Eventually, he’ll have to come forward and that he will try to go for a knockout which should make the fight very exciting,” said Mosley, a 6-1 underdog.

Mosley said going the distance with Pacquiao and winning on points are not his priorities on fight night.

“A victory, for me, would be to actually knock him out, not just going the distance with him and winning, but it would be my goal to knock him out,” added Mosley.
