7:30 p.m.- Rain or Shine vs. San Miguel

THE two remaining quarterfinal slots will be at stake today in the continuing elimination round of the 36th PBA Commissioner's Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Air21 Express and the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters try to complete the quarterfinal cast with the former facing off with the Alaska Aces in the first game and the latter taking on the San Miguel Beermen in the main game.

The Express and the Painters are tied for the fifth and sixth spots with identical 4-4 (win-loss) records. Only the top six teams will advance to the playoffs.

The Talk N Text Tropang Texters and Smart Gilas Pilipinas have already secured the two outright semis spots. The Texters clinched the top seeding after ending the eliminations with eight wins and one loss (8-1). Smart Gilas came in second with a 7-2 record.

The Aces are already assured of a playoff seat after winning five of their first eight games. Also in the quarters are the Barangay Ginebra Kings who finished the initial round with a 5-4 slate.

Eliminated from the competition were San Miguel Beermen, the Meralco Bolts and the Powerade Tigers.

Twin victories by Rain or Shine and Air21 will eliminate the Derby Ace Llamados, who ended the elimination battles with four victories and five defeats.

Losses by the Express and the Painters will mean they will have the same records with the Llamados after the elimination round. The tie will be broken via quotient system. The winner-over-the-other rule will take effect should two teams end up with the same record.

The Express stayed in contention for a quarterfinal berth by winning their last three games behind the stellar plays of import Alpha Bangura and new recruits Danny Seigle and Dondon Hontiveros.
