On Saturday night, Vic Darchinyan defeated Yonnhy Perez with relative ease as he clearly dominated the fight up until the 5th round when the doctor stopped the fight due Perez suffering a bad cut over his left eye.

The cut was the result of an accidental head butt between the fighters. With the IBO bantamweight title and a willingness to fight anyone, rematches against Abner Mares and Nonito Donaire could be next for Vic.

According to Fighthype.com, promoter Gary Shaw is petitioning the IBF to allow Darchinyan the chance to fight Mares while both fighters wait for IBF champion Joseph Agbeko to recover from injury.

Agbeko was originally set to face Mares on Saturday night but the fight was cancelled due to Agbeko suffering a back injury. It's unknown when he will return, so promoter Gary Shaw wants Mares to fight Darchinyan for an interim IBF title with the winner facing Agbeko upon his return. Mares and Darchinyan fought last December with Mares winning via split decision (115-111, 112-113, 111-115).

If Darchinyan is unable to secure a rematch with Mares, then a potential rematch with Nonito Donaire is next on the wish list.

Donaire handed Vic his first career loss in July 2007 as he TKO'd Vic in the 5th round. Over the years, Darchinyan has often mentioned his desires to fight Donaire again. A potential rematch with Donaire might be hard to accomplish with all of Donaire's contractual problems as of late.
