MANILA, Philippines—After stirring Talk N' Text to another finals appearance, Jimmy Alapag was fittingly adjudged the Best Player of the Conference for the 2011 PBA Commissioner's Cup Wednesday night.

The spry point guard garnered a total of 1026 out of 3353 points, edging Ginebra's Mark Caguioa who came in with 956 points on top of a rejuvenated season.

Meanwhile, the burly yet soft-spoken Nate Brumfield of the Gin Kings received the Best Import awardee with a total of 1499 points.

Brumfield led in all the criteria, which gave him a huge advantage over Texters's Paul Harris, who wound up in far second with 1022.

The points came from a combination of statistics and votes from the PBA Press Corps, the PBA Commissioner's Office, the television channel Solar Sports and the players.

Alapag was only fifth in the statistical race, averaging 12.5 points, 3.1 rebounds and 5.7 assists, but overwhelming votes from the media swung his bid.

All 44 mediamen who voted gave Alapag first-place votes.

Brumfield was first among the imports in the statistics department with a glaring 96-point lead over Harris.
