Japan nuclear threat, Azkals on Pinoys' minds

MANILA, Philippines - All eyes have been on Japan ever since the country was hit by a magnitude 9.0 earthquake and tsunami last Friday, March 11. The nuclear radiation threat from Japan's troubled Fukushima nuclear power plant has added to netizens' worries.

In the Philippines, Internet users have googled "nuclear meltdown Japan" most on March 11-17, making the topic the first in the list of fastest rising news released by Google Philippines.

Other related terms about the disaster were "chernobyl disaster" and "japan tsunami" which also landed on Google PH's top 10 fastest rising news for the same period.

The Azkals are proving to be dear to Pinoys as more and more netizens searched the Internet for news about the football team which went up against the Mongolian Blue Wolves in Mongolia.

As a result, the Azkals landed on the top 2 of the fastest rising news list, and headed the list of fastest rising newsmakers for the same period of March 11 to 17.

Other news of interest to Pinoys were the Banco Filipino closure, the Marikina fault line which is said to ripe enough to trigger a 7.2-magnitude earthquake anytime, and the text hoax allegedly quoting BBC that radiation will hit the country.
